A broken streetlight or a blocked drain is easy to spot and hard to report. The path from noticing a problem to reaching the agency that can fix it usually runs through an office visit or a phone number nobody answers. DeltaConnect shortens that path to a photo and a tap.

1st Place National Champion at MAGE 9 ITS

In November 2023, DeltaConnect competed in the Multimedia and Game Event 9 (MAGE 9), a prestigious national technological competition hosted by the Department of Computer Engineering at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya. Developed across two months by Yuke Brilliant Hestiavin and Namira Nuril Almas (representing SMAN 1 Taman), the application was awarded 1st Place nationally in the High School Application Development category.

Through this championship achievement, Yuke earned a prestigious Freepass (Golden Ticket) direct admission into the Undergraduate Computer Engineering program at ITS Surabaya.

How reporting works

  1. Capture. A resident photographs the problem in-app and adds a title, category, and description.

  2. Locate. GPS tags the report automatically, so the crew sent out knows exactly where to go.

  3. Verify. An officer reviews the report and routes it to the agency responsible.

  4. Track. Every status change notifies the reporter, so a filed report does not vanish into silence.

That last step is the one that matters most. Reporting systems fail when people stop believing anything happens after they submit.

Architecture

Two very different audiences needed two very different interfaces: residents on phones, officers at desks triaging a queue. Both are served by a single Nest.js API, so verification logic and status transitions live in one place rather than being duplicated and drifting apart.

Role

Citizen app

React Native, Expo

Camera capture, GPS tagging, status notifications

Officer dashboard

React.js, Tailwind CSS

Verification queue and agency routing

API

Nest.js, TypeScript

One source of truth for both clients

Database

PostgreSQL

Reports, users, agencies, status history

Cache

Redis

Categories and agency lists, read constantly and changed rarely

Scope

Deliberately limited to infrastructure and environmental issues within Kabupaten Sidoarjo. A narrow scope meant the category taxonomy and routing rules could match how the local agencies are actually organised, instead of guessing at a general-purpose model that fits nowhere well.
